What I want to do is on the Form View_Item Updating event, I want to check the Old Values collections, use that to calculate some values and then insert them into the New Values collection.
My problem is that all the Old Values for these one-way databound labels come up null, even though they have values.
As far as I can tell, the problem is that the program is not passing updated information to the New Values array that you can access from the Item Updating event args. The code and markup looks fine to me, in fact I have a page with similar information on it that works fine. That Form View is nearly identical to one on the page that doesn't work; in fact, I copied and pasted the markup to keep the formatting correct.
I've been over the page a bunch of times and I can't see anything wrong jumping out at me. I will try to refactor to access from the Northwind database, and I'm going to attempt to rebuild the page as well. The page has, among other things, two Form Views and a Grid View control, each with its own Sql Data Source.
Net 2.0 framework, and I have a serious problem with the page I'm currently working on.
So I figured maybe they have to be two-way databound to access the Old Values collection. So now I can access the Old Values, but any values set in the New Values collection are ignored when the update is made to the database. Is this the designed behavior for the Old Values, New Values collections?
Hi, I'm trying to update values from Detals View using C# codebehind. Basically, the menu will be like this, Categories Sub Categories. I have a Form View control populated with some labels that use one way databinding to a database. When I run the web app, I choose to edit this field & can type whatever I want no problem. Hi zhughes, You can implement "go to the next line by pressing the enter key". How to modify the position of controls present inside detailsview?
I don't have direct access to SQL database that's why I wish to store all data in dataset.
Does anyone know why when event Form View1_Item Updating called there are actually no values.
I have a Checkbox and Form View bound on Item Updating event with an Update button.
NET - forum discussing the Microsoft languages including C#, VB. All of the controls read from the tables with no problem and switch modes with no problem, but when going into Update mode, changing something and clicking the Update button, it does not save the information to the tables. I would also think that the problem is page-specific, however I can't see any real difference in the page that works and the page that doesn't, except for the fact that the page that works only has one formview and that's it.
